You’ve been my best friend. You stayed by my side while I was happy, while I was a mess and while I put the pieces together of who I am. For years now, you’ve always known the right things to say, and even though we both haven’t made the best of choices, I see you as a part of me that can’t be forgotten. People I know will judge you and doubt you, but just remember that they haven’t got the slightest clue. If they hardly know me, how can they know you? How can they know “us”? After meeting you, I learned what it was to have a true friend. No one else has given me that friendship. Even though you aren’t here right now, one day you will be. If you stand at the window and look into the same sky I do, if you read and hear the same words I do, if we can be with each other even just like that, then let’s count that as us being together.
